I was fortunate enough to meet Christopher in 2013 during his tenure as music director of the Munich International Orchestra.

As a young student on Erasmus, the orchestra became an important social outlet for those of us struggling to adapt to a new culture and language. Christopher really embraced his role in that – switching from English to German and back in the same breath to ensure everyone got his jokes during rehearsals, and always taking the time to check in personally with the international students.

I still remember and appreciate those small acts of kindness which made me feel welcomed in a new city. And of course, his enthusiasm and passion for music could cross any language barrier.

Such a vibrant personality lingers in memory no matter how much time passes – I am greatly saddened to hear of this terrible loss. My condolences to his friends and family.
