Like so many at the RCM, I was shocked and so saddened to hear the news about Chris, and all the more because of how much life, energy and fun he brought to all those who worked with him. His warmth and ability to quickly make friends with everyone – fellow students, audiences young and old, and all levels of staff and management – were a key part of what made him so successful as a musician and conductor. Chris’s collaborative skills and keenness to try new things led to him conducting live performances remotely between London and Vienna for one of the RCM’s most ambitious projects of recent years, as well as working with the studio team to direct cameras on concert live streams. All at RCM are better for having known him and will feel the gap he leaves behind.
