Marijean Quigley-Young
As with everyone, I deeply grieve the loss of such a vibrant, loving, delightful, talented, hard working, young man, Chris McMullen-Laird. I was his orchestra teacher at Pioneer H.S. in Ann Arbor, MI, during his time there. During his senior year, we had him conduct the orchestra at one of our final concerts. And with that event, it was easy to see his gifts emerging. Most of all, I remember his contagious kindness and acceptance of everyone he met and came in contact with. His personality was larger than life, immediately drawing out the goodness in those around him. And, too, this was a huge attraction for all of us, as he was contagious in his loving, gracious, and giving spirit which was always persistently positive.
Attached is a picture of Chris, flanked on the left by his private viola teacher, Carolyn Tarzia, and me on the right. This picture was taken at the end of our Orchestra Awards Banquet during Chris’ Senior year of high school.
My deepest and sincerest sympathies to the family for their unimaginable grief and loss.
